2016audiq3475The Q3 gets new standard equipment (front and rear parking sensors and a review camera) and updated front-end styling for 2016.

Fully-loaded and luxuriously quiet, the 2016 Audi Q3 crushes it. It’s everything you could want in a luxury subcompact crossover.

The 2016 Audi Q3 is a subcompact luxury crossover available in two trim levels: Premium Plus and Prestige. This review will focus on the Prestige trim.

The Prestige starts with a panoramic sunroof, xenon headlights, LED running lights and taillights, automatic headlights and wipers, roof rails, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, keyless ignition and entry, leather upholstery, eight-way heated power front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a 60/40-split-folding rear seat, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, Audi’s Multi Media Interface control system with a pop-up 7-inch display, a CD player and Audi’s proprietary digital music interface, and adds 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, “S line” styling cues, a power liftgate, heated auto-dimming and power-folding exterior mirrors, a 14-speaker Bose audio system and stainless-steel door and tailgate sill plates.

My model added the optional wood inlays and black cloth headliner.

2016audiq3intA six-speed automatic transmission controlled the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-banger getting 200 horses and 207 pound-feet of torque. Fuel estimates for the all-wheel drive quattro are 20/city, 28/highway, and 23/city mpg.

Interior quality is top drawer with soft touch materials and excellent finishes. Controls are intuitive and centrally located. The only thing missing is a USB port for music playing and charging functions.

Front and rear seating is comfortable but taller passengers will challenged in the back seat, since seating is a bit tight. Cargo storage is good and 16.7 cubic feet with the seats up and an roomy 48 cubic feet with them down.

The Q3 like to hunker down at high speeds giving a smooth and quiet ride. Acceleration from a stop is good too, especially when the transmission is in the Sport mode.

When looking for a luxury subcompact crossover the 2016 Audi Q3 quattro Tiptronic is well worth a test drive.
