2017audia3475As the entry level car in the Audi group, the A3 still maintains all of what Audi drivers have come to expect of the brand. Luxury, drivability and excellent handling are still to be had at a lower price point. For 2017 the A3 gets a face freshening and a forward collision mitigation system as standard equipment.

The 2017 Audi A3 comes at either a sedan or convertible and in three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. This review will focus on the four-door sedan in the Prestige level.

An LED lighting package, power-folding exterior mirrors, auto high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, Bang & Olufsen 14-speaker sound system and tech package is included in the Prestige Package. This is in addition to 18-inch wheels, keyless entry and ignition, front and rear parking alerts, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, USB interface for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, heated front seats and an eight-way power passenger seat with four-way power lumbar.

2017audia3intA turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine produces a pulse-pounding 220 horses and 258 lb-ft of torque. Even with all that power expect to get good gas mileage of 24/city, 31/highway, and 27/combined mpg.

Even though this is an entry level Audi you’d never know it from the interior. From the leather seats to the attractive layout of the knobs and gauges, the A3 is anything but an entry level car. The navigation system has the Audi’s MMI system with a touchpad that you can simply use your finger to enter information.

In the front seat passengers will be comfortable but in the backseat things become a bit more cramped. Cargo space is also cramped at 10 cubic feet, but the backseats fold down to accommodate longer cargo.

Getting a luxury car does not mean you have to give up a great drive. The A3 is a fun-drive with plenty of power and great cornering. The cabin is quiet and the ride smooth.

Looking to get into a luxury car but don’t want to break the bank. Give the 2017 Audi A3 Prestige a test drive.
