2017lexusGS350fsport475The Lexus GS350 F Sport has received incremental changes since its debut in 2013 that have kept it a contender in the midsize luxury sedan segment. 2017 is no different, added to the impressive list of standard features are the previously optional driver safety aids including: adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with mitigation and automatic high-beam control. These additions not only make the GS350 F Sport safer, but easier to drive.

The GS 350 is a rear wheel-drive car available in the base and F Sport models. This is also an AWD version available in the base and F Sport trims. This review will focus on the F Sport model.

2017lexus350intSporting 19-inch wheels and summer performance tires, a sport-tuned adaptive variable suspension and bigger front brakes, the F Sport is a step above the base model. It also offers the option of four-wheel steering or a limited-slip rear differential. The F Sport has more aggressive front and rear bumper and grille styling, power sport seats and different interior trim pieces. The interior is very lavishly equipped with things such as keyless ignition and entry, a sunroof, power-adjustable and heated front seats, driver-seat memory settings, and an automatic climate control system that optimizes airflow based on where passengers are seated. Standard tech content includes Bluetooth, the Remote Touch infotainment interface, a navigation system, voice controls, smartphone app integration, a 12.3-inch display screen and a 12-speaker sound system. A variety of driver safety aids (blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and the Lexus Safety System Plus suite of advanced active safety features) are also included.

A 3.5-liter V6 powers the GS350 delivering 311 horses and 280 lb-ft of torque. It really packs a wallop. The eight-speed automatic transmission handles gear changes smoothly and efficiently.

Both front and back seat passengers will be happy with plentiful head and leg-room and comfortable seating. I wasn’t a fan of the GS350′s Remote Touch Interface, utilizing a mouse-ish pointer that controled navigation and infotainment. I kept hitting it and changing satellite stations and screens.

The interior of the GS350 is nicely appointed with real wood trim and plush leather seats. Materials used throughout the cabin are soft to the touch and the trunk has plenty of room for your everyday stuff.

The drive is luxurious and smooth, but its sporty side comes out when you hit the gas.

A car for both sporty car enthusiast and luxury car loves, the 2017 Lexus GS350 F Sport is worth a look-see if you are in the market for a luxury sedan that’s got a sporty side.
