In the world of luxury crossovers, the 2017 Lexus RX 350 is a front runner with its bold styling and luxurious interior. With seating for five, the RX is not too big, not too small, it’s just right for a family of four.
Available in base and F Sport trims, the RX is full of good stuff. This review will focus on the F Sport trim.
Standard on the base model is a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, Safety Connect emergency communications, a suite of drive safety aids (the Safety System+ package, including lane departure warning and intervention and forward collision warning and mitigation with automatic emergency braking), Bluetooth, an 8-inch display screen, a smartphone-integrated navigation system and a nine-speaker sound system. It also has 18-inch wheels, automatic LED headlights, LED foglights, a power liftgate, keyless ignition, eight-way power adjustable front seats and rear privacy glass.
The F Sport trim adds a sportier exterior styling, 20-inch wheels, adaptive suspension dampers, enhanced engine sound, transmission paddle shifters, unique gauges, heated and ventilated sport seats, leather upholstery and unique interior trim.
Extras on my model were blind spot monitoring, color head-up display, touch free power rear door, nav and premium audio plus a moonroof.
The 3.5-liter, V6 engine delivers an impressive 295 horses coupled with a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission you’ll be merging into traffic with ease. Expect to get 19/city, 26/highway and 22/combined mpg.
With a huge 12.3-inch tech interface screen the interior of the RX is user-friendly and comfy too. With plenty of legroom front and back six-footers and little-ones alike will be happy. The trunk holds 18.4 cubic feet of stuff and the 40/20/40 folding back seats provide more room for longer cargo.
Driving the RX is a lot of fun with its V6 engine and agile eight-speed automatic transmission. You’ll be merging into traffic with ease. Steering is responsive as is acceleration and braking.
