2017 Subaru BRZ Series.Yellow2017 was a big year for the BRZ. With a slew of changes, the BRZ now gets more power from its engine, a smoother ride thanks to a retuned suspension, and upgraded materials on the interior.

What stays the same is the “fun”. The BRZ is still engaging on the road and looks great while doing it. Taking the car through it’s paces is a great weekend endeavor but the BRZ is also a comfortable weekday car and it’s smaller size makes it easier to park in an urban setting.

A four-seat compact coupe, the 2017 Subaru BRZ comes in three trims: Premium, Limited and Series.Yellow. This review will focus on the Series.Yellow.

With LED foglights, rear spoiler, keyless ignition, dual-zone climate control, simulted suede and leather upholstery, upgraded interior trim, a digital display in the gauge cluster for performance data, and an All-Weather package that includes heated mirrors and heated front seats. The optional Performance package is also standard and adds black 17” alloy wheels, larger Brembo brakes and upgraded suspension.

The Series.Yellow also adds a frameless rearview mirror, black exterior badges, yellow interior accent stitching, and a black-and-yellow interior scheme with the BRZ logo embroidered on the front seats.

2017subarubrzintThe four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine, combined with a six-speed manual transmission gets 205 horses and 156 pound-feet of torque. Expect to get 21/city, 29/highway, and 24/combined mpg.

Inside is more than one would expect for a performance car. A plethora of tech features like navigation, a rearview camer Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, and review camera are just some of the useful tools the BRZ comes equipped with.

Frontseat room and comfort is good, whereas the backseat leaves a lot to be desired in legroom and headroom. The trunk is on the smallish size with 6.9 cubic feet of space. The backseats do fold down to afford more cargo room.

Have you ever been in a car where you hit the gas and you find yourself laughing with the joy of driving? I found this with the BRZ. It’s speedy off the dime and cornering is tight and firm. I found myself smiling during the most mundane drives. The interior is a bit noisy, but hey, that’s what a great sound system is for.

Looking for a performance car with extras? Give the 2017 Subaru BRZ Series.Yellow a test drive.
