2018chevycruze475A zippy hatchback, the Cruze is a popular Chevrolet drive. This year, adding to its popularity is the new Cruze Hatch Diesel. Combining a zippy, yet economical diesel engine, the 2018 Chevrolet Cruze Hatch Diesel provides added cargo-carrying capacity in a great-looking package.

There is only one trim offered with the diesel engine and that is the LT. You can opt for either a sedan or hatchback. This review will focus on the Cruze Hatch Diesel.

2018chevycruzedashWith 16-inch alloy wheels, upgraded headlights with LED running lights, heated mirrors, cruise control, steering-wheel-mounted phone and audio controls, a rear center armrest with cupholders, and a six-speaker audio system with satellite radio. Hatchback models also get a cargo cover and rear spoiler. The Diesel also receives the Convenience package as standard adding heated front seats, an eight-way power driver seat and remote engine start.

Powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four banger diesel engine, the Cruze delivers 137 horses and 240 lb-ft of torque. Expect to get 31/city, 47/highway, and 37/combined mpg.

On the inside the Cruze has plenty of soft surfaces with chrome accents for an upscale look and feel. The front seats are comfortable and well-padded. Both backseat and front seat passengers will be comfortable as there is plenty of leg and elbow room.

It’s easy to hook up your smartphone to the Chevrolet MyLink system. Voice recognition is pretty good, even for my little voice. Button, knobs and gadgets are easily accessible and the sound system is a good one.

Driving the Cruze can be fun when driven at highway speeds. It will easily overtake those slowpokes on the road. Steering the Cruze is easy with responsive steering. Cornering is good with little wheel slippage at higher speeds.

If you’re looking to move to a diesel engine and want one with a little personality, give the 2018 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel Hatch a test drive.
