2018 Hyundai Elantra ECO: Designed with Mileage in Mind

2018hyundaielantraeco475A compact sedan with a lot to offer, the 2018 Hyundai Elantra is an attractive passenger car with plenty of amenities. The ECO is specifically designed to be gentle on gas and high on mileage. Its fuel-efficient turbocharged engine delivers the goods giving up to 40 mpg in highway driving conditions.

The ECO comes standard with 15-inch alloy wheels and low-rolling-resistance tires, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, Bluetooth connectivity, cloth upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless entry and starting, 3.5-inch vehicle-information display, infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, HD and satellite radio, a hands-free smart trunk, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and a rearview camera.

The ECO’s unique powertrain of a 1.4-liter turbocharged, 4-cylinder engine delivers 128 horses and 156 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission and tuned for mileage. Expect to get 32/city, 40/highway, and 35/combined mpg.

2018hyundaielantraecointOn the inside the ECO shines with good fit and finish and comfy supportive seating. The various knob, buttons and gauges are easy to use and easy to read. Both front and back seat passengers will find the cabin roomy enough for seating for four. But add another person in the back and things get a bit cramped.

With 14.4 cubic feet of cargo space the trunk is plenty big. 60/40 split folding rear seats add to that space. Plus the ECO has plenty of cubbies for putting water bottles, smartphones and sunglasses.

A cushy ride and good handling make the ECO a great family car. With the turbocharged engine you’ll get a quick burst of power when needed, but the cabin will remain quiet and serene (unless of course, you have a crying baby).

Need a small family sedan with a burst of power but an economical personality? Test drive the 2018 Hyundai Elantra ECO a test ride.
