2018 CadenzaCurrently the car du jour is the crossover SUV but not everyone wants or needs something with that high a profile, for them a large sedan will do the trick. The 2018 Kia Cadenza Limited is a large sedan that offers comfort and space for four adults and if the adults are small you could even squeeze five in there.

The Cadenza is available in four trims: Premium, Luxury, Technology, and the top of the line, Limited. This review will focus on the Limited trim.

With 19-inch wheels, LED headlights and foglights, automatic wipers, a power-adjustable and heated steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 10-way driver’s seat, two-way lumbar adjustment for the front passenger, ventilated front seats, driver-seat memory settings, wireless phone charging, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control it’s got all the bells and whistles. But added to that is a power-operated trunklid, a head-up display, side rear sunshades, a power rear sunshade, upgraded leather upholstery and heated rear seats. The Limited trim is really loaded and very upmarket.

2018kiacadenzaintA 3.3-liter V6 matched to an eight-speed automatic producing 290 horses and 253 pound-feet of torque. Expect to get 20/city, 28/highway, and 23/combine mpg.

As I observed earlier the interior of the Cadenza is plenty roomy for either backseat or frontseat passengers. The quality of materials used is really upscale with quilted upholstery and soft touch features. The are designer touches as well like the padded driver knee rest and wood trim. There are also the latest gadgets on board that are pretty easy to use. For cargo, there’s 16 cubic feet in the trunk with a small pass through for longer items. The backseats do not fold for extra trunk space.

Driving in the Cadenza is about what one would expect from a large sedan, not exactly exciting, but it will get you to where you want to go comfortably. Steering is capable if not exciting and it improves sightly when in Sport mode but don’t expect to speed through the curves. Ride comfort is excellent and the cabin is very quiet.
