2018mercedesgla250475If you are looking for a smaller profile SUV and want the Mercedes Badge, then the 2018 GLA250 4Matic was made for you. For 2018 the GLA250 gets a bit of a facial with redesigned front and rear bumpers. Also added as standard equipment is an 8-inch high-res display and rearview camera.

I was lucky enough to drive the GLA250 during a girls’ weekend in Ojai. The ride was luxurious and when we were directed to a winding road, it handled beautifully. There was plenty of legroom for my almost 6 foot GF and the seats were comfy and supportive while we were stuck in traffic.

The 2018 Mercedes GLA250 comes in the 250 (front-wheel drive), 4Matic (all-wheel drive) and the AMG. I drove the all-wheel-drive 4Matic.

Equipped with a power liftgate, remote start with the mbrace apps, 19-inch wheels, 8-inch infotainment display screen, mbrace services with mbrace Connect, pre-wiring for Garmin Map Pilot, and Dynamic Select driving modes. Generous optional features consist of Android Auto, panorama roof, a 12-speaker harman/kardon sound system, and 12-color ambient lighting, you’ll be styling. But add some of the extra packages that were included on my model like a panorama sunroof, harman/kardon surround sound system and multimedia package you’ve really got it going on.

2018mercedesgla250intThe 2.0-liter turbocharged Inline-4 engine produces 208 horses and 258 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a seven-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive. Expect to get 23/city, 31/highway, and 26/combined mpg.

On the inside, the GLA250 is definitely upscale with chrome accents, leather seating, burled wood trim and contrast stitching on the seats. While the front seats are plenty comfy and roomy, the backseats may feel a bit cramped depending on who is sitting in the front seats. Cargo space is good especially when you fold the seats down.

Driving the GLA250 is a dream, with its quiet cabin and smooth ride. Acceleration is great, with a quick off the dime boost from the turbo engine. I did find the stop-start function a bit unnerving as the car kind of shuddered when coming from a complete stop. I made sure to turn this function off, especially when I needed to accelerate quickly.

Looking to purchase a small SUV that’s got looks, comfort and drivablity? Give the 2018 GLA250 4Matic a test drive.
