2019nissanmurano475Adding a fresh face with new LED headlights, the Nissan Murano comes into 2019 with more safety features that are standard and optional. The 2019 Murano is a stylish crossover with comfort for five and an interior to rival more expensive luxury models. It’s not tops on utility. The Murano is more of a people mover than a stuff mover.

Offered in four trim levels: S, SV, SL and Platinum, this review will focus on the top of the line Platinum trim.

Loaded with 20-inch wheels, a power-adjustable steering wheel with memory setting, quilted leather seating surfaces, ventilated front seats, power-folding rear seats and NissanConnect communications, the Murano gives the luxury crossovers a run for their money.

2019nissanmuranointA 3.5-liter, V6 engine pulls 260 horses and 240 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired to a continuously variable automatic trany. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional. My test model came with all-wheel drive. Expect to get 20/city, 28/highway, and 23/combined mpg.

On the inside the Murano is all luxury. The looks and the feel of the cabin rival that of an Infiniti. The quilted leather in the Premium model is nice to look at and comfortable to sit upon. There’s plenty of room for front and back seat passengers to get comfortable.

The 8-inch touchscreen is easy to read and navigate through. The Murano has all the latest smartphone integration and there are plenty of USB and 12-volt power outlets for driver and passengers.

There’s a fair amount of room for cargo. The Murano has split folding seats with a quick release and are flat folding to accommodate longer cargo.

The V6 engine is responsive at a dead stop as well as at highway speeds. It’s handles well for a crossover and while you won’t be taking curves at high speeds, the car always feels in control.

For luxury extras without the luxury cost, the 2019 Nissan Murano Platinum is worth a test drive.
