2017dodgechallenger475Modern cars come in all sorts of personas, some strive for comfort, others for fuel economy, and there are those that just want to have fun, the 2017 Dodge Challenger GT is one of the latter.

My test model was bright red. Everywhere I went I got looks and comments. When I drove up to valet with the Challenger, the driver’s eyes lit up. It is one impressive looking car, driving it is impressive too, especially if you live in snow-bound environs with it’s all-wheel-drive.

The GT comes standard with ventilated and heated front seats, keyless entry, electronic stability and traction control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated leather steering wheel, and dual-zone climate control.

2017dodgechallengerintMy test model also came with some extras like the Technology Group with added rain-sensitive wipers, forward collision warning and adaptive speed control. The GT Interior Package included a leather performance steering wheel and kick-ass sound system.

The 3.6-liter V6 engine produces 305 horses with 268 pound feet of torque. It is paired with a eight-speed automatic transmission that moves seamlessly from rear-wheel to all-wheel-drive when needed. Mileage estimates are good for such a powerful car: 18/city, 27/highway, and 21/combined mpg.

On the inside the Challenger GT is roomy. It will seat four adults in comfort and in a pinch offers seating for five. This two-door is easy to access the backseats due to the wide doors. Interior materials are upscale with soft-touch materials.

The 8.4 inch touchscreen with Dodge’s Uconnect Infotainment system is easy to use and Bluetooth phone and audio streaming come standard as does Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Cargo space is generous too at 16 cubic feet. Even with the backseats up there’s plenty of room for ski equipment or groceries. The backseats fold down for added space.

The Challenger GT is well mannered for a muscle car as it glides down the highway with big-car muscle. Hitting bumps is a little jarring due to the stiff suspension. Acceleration is good and cornering tight and true.

Looking for a family car with some muscle and with all-wheel-drive to boot? Give the 2017 Dodge Challenger GT All-Wheel-Drive a test drive.
